Coordinates with back office staff to ensure for the timely and efficient flow of patients to the providers. Reviews and edits patient bills generated by providers through the electronic medical record and/or enters charges and payments from fee tickets. Coordinates referrals and/or hospital  admission arrangements as directed. Demonstrates basic knowledge of managed care plans, CPT, and ICD-9 coding.<br/><br/>Cash Management: Checks out patients at the time of service and collects appropriate payment, including any past due balances owed, in accordance with patient's medical plan coverage and provides receipt for services. This position will also rotate to the Blairsville, GA and Murphy, NC practices when needed.<br/><br/>QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program and two years previous experience as a medical assistant in an outpatient clinic; or completion of a Nursing Assistant program and two years previous experience as a patient care assistant, preferably a primary care setting; or High School diploma or general education (GED) and three years primary care experience. Some applicants may be required to possess a radiological safety certificate.<br/><br/>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.<br/><br/>Exam Room Preparation: Cleans and prepares examination rooms for patients and insures that they are stocked appropriately with supplies and instruments; adheres to administrative and/or medical supply ordering process in the office.<br/><br/>Patient Care: Meets and greets patients in a professional manner; escorts them to the exam room. Takes and records patient vital signs (i.e., blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, weight); aids the physician, physician extender, and/or nursing staff during treatment, examination, and/or testing of patients, which may include injections and immunizations; may assist with procedure scheduling and ancillary testing.<br/><br/>Telephone Management: Under a physician or other licensed provider's guidance, receives incoming telephone calls; responds to patient and family questions regarding medication and treatment instructions; coordinates telephone requests to refill prescription drug medications in accordance with physician instructions; immediately advises physician and/or nurse of patient's adverse reaction to medication and/or treatment: notifies patients of their test results as directed by a physician or licensed provider.<br/><br/>Front Office Coordination: Assists the appointment scheduler(s) with physician's patient schedule to ensure the timely flow of patients; may assists front office personnel with referrals, registration, check-out/cashiering, insurance verification, and scheduling appointments, tests, and/or hospital admission arrangements. Completes medical and physical history forms and other related information requested by third party payors for physician's review and signature.]]></description>
